Chalky
Mount Tourism Project- Barbados
The CTF sharpened its focus on
the local tourism market in efforts to support small-scale
tourism projects that can potentially lead to more
community-oriented ventures.
Beginning in January 2005, the
Chalky Mount community in Barbados benefited from a 16-week
training programme in tourism and tour guiding organised by
the CTF in collaboration with the Caribbean Tourism
Organisation. The community of Chalky Mount has a rich
cultural tradition of pottery-making as well as basket
weaving. The area is a popular attraction, offering
panoramic views of the East Coast and hilly environs of St.
Andrew and St. Peter.
