Announces New Trustee
23rd July, 2004
By Christine Skeete
The Community Tourism Foundation
(CTF) announces the newest
member of its Board of Trustees, Colin Jordan, Director of
Finance & Administration with the Palm Beach Hotel Group,
comprising Amaryllis Beach Resort and Allamanda Beach Hotel.
Mr. Jordan
leads the finance, human resources development, and
information technology functions at the sister hotels. He has
worked previously with KMPG and St. James Beach Hotels/Elegant
Hotels in various accounting capacities, and also has work
experience in Jamaica and Sweden. In addition to his new
position on the CTF Board
of Trustees, Mr. Jordan also sits on the Board of Directors of
the Barbados Hotel & Tourism Association as Vice President of
Finance.
The Board
of Trustees is made up of six professionals who lend the
CTF their wealth of
expertise in areas ranging from tourism management to NGO and
project management. The Board is chaired by tourism
consultant May Hinds and also includes Richard Jones of the
Caribbean Policy Development Centre, Rodney Grant, Executive
Director of Pinelands Creative Workshop, consultant/contractor
Gordon Bispham, and Cecilia Babb, Deputy Coordinator of the
Caribbean Policy Development Centre, along with Colin Jordan.
The
CTF has benefited from
dynamic leadership from its inception. Sue Springer,
Executive Vice President of the BHTA, is a former Trustee and
management consultant Maxine McClean is the immediate past
chairperson.
The
CTF’s supreme decision
making body is its Board of Trustees. Its members oversee the
execution of the charitable organisation’s policy and
programmes. The Secretariat, headed by Executive Trustee
Richard Jones, is responsible for the implementation of the
CTF’s programmes. These
programmes include the provision of financial and technical
assistance to community groups for projects that empower
people to lead productive lives.
Founded in
December 2000, the Community Tourism Foundation is a
charitable organisation that partners with the tourism sector
to improve communities through the application of
self-development, enterprise and educational projects that
develop the skills and knowledge of disadvantaged
individuals.
